Home Detention Specialist

Overview of the Position

The Home Detention Specialist (HDS) will monitor the whereabouts of Program residents on Home

Detention. Specific duties include but are not limited to conducting and documenting initial home site

visits and visiting residents on Home Detention at least once per week at both their home and their

place of employment to ensure program compliance.

Responsibilities include the following:

• Conduct a suitability review of the proposed location for home confinement before the client is

released from incarceration

• Provide home confinement clients with an overview of the GPS monitoring equipment

• Install GPS monitoring equipment

• Establish and monitor boundary zones for home confinement clients

• Conduct home and worksite visits as required by the Statement of Work

• Notify the Facility Director if the client is out of bounds or misses a contact call

• Identify message gaps and/or interference with electronic monitoring equipment

• Work with the Caseworker to identify any barriers to a successful transition from incarceration

to home confinement

• Document resident accountability and write incident reports as required

• Other duties as assigned

Necessary Skills

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Ability to follow maps and GPS

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent

• Associate’s degree in behavioral or social science is preferred

• Valid Washington DC driver’s license, with a clean driving record

• Must have access to a vehicle in good working order that has a valid registration and has passed

all applicable inspections as required by the District

• Verifiable work experience in security within a human service setting
