CASEWORKER

Overview of the Position

The Caseworker develops the Individualized Program Plan (IPP) for clients within the facility and clients referred for home confinement.

Essential Duties

• Interviews clients to collect information and evaluate and determine the client’s service needs and complete the IPP within 10 days of the client’s arrival to the program.

• Develop and implement specialized services based on the client’s IPP.

• Perform case management functions, e.g. compiling, assessing, and maintaining data and information for specific reporting.

• Directs the development, implementation and monitoring of the client’s IPP from arrival to final release.

• Identifies programs most beneficial for the client to make a successful transition from incarceration to home confinement.

• Assists home detention specialist by monitoring the client’s compliance with home confinement policies and procedures, including contact calls and visits to the home and workplace.

• Conducts home and worksite visits as required by the Statement of Work.

• Monitors the client’s whereabouts when at work or away in an education, vocation and/or training program.

• Ensures that the information in a client’s file is current.

• Maintains working relationships with community resources with which client will have contact upon release to home confinement and then following conclusion of home confinement.

• Ability to establish and maintain accurate records.

• Ability to work independently within the program while maintaining policies and procedures.

• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in a non-judgmental, courteous, and professional manner.

• Requires extensive written and verbal communication skills needed to motivate, convince, and/or change behavior or attitude of clients.

Qualifications

Education: Four-year degree from an accredited college or university in social sciences, criminal

justice, psychology, human services, behavioral science, or another related field required.

Experience: Minimum one (1) year of experience in human services, counseling, corrections,

community-based services and/or case management required.

Experience in residential community-based corrections is preferred. Total work experience

needed in lieu of the combination of education and work experience is five years.

Employment is subject to approval by the Bureau of Prisons under the U.S. Department of

Justice. Prior criminal record is not necessarily a bar to employment, but failure to disclose a

criminal record or pending criminal charges may be a bar to employment or may result in

termination.
